Local startup looks to diagnose and treat flaws in diabetes care

Ryse Health pairs patients with an endocrinologist, a diabetes care specialist, a health coach and a behavioral health specialist. Via chat, email, video and in-person visits, they provide regular support, tips for managing diabetes and coaching, while connecting patients with diabetic peers.

CareFirst, Ryse Health partner to take on uncontrolled Type 2 diabetes

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is joining forces with Ryse Health, a company that specializes in providing in-person and virtual care for patients with uncontrolled Type 2 diabetes, in hopes of driving better long-term outcomes.

CareFirst officials said they believe the effort will help improve care by better pinpointing what they need most.

Why I Co-Founded Ryse Health

When I was leaving WelbeHealth, I was intent on being thoughtful about my next full-time role. I told my wife, “I don’t know if I’ll end up at a 4-person company or a 40,000-person company, but the one thing I know I won’t do is start my own company.” And yet, here I am: co-founder of Ryse Health, a new startup helping patients manage type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases. The obvious question that springs from that epic flip flop is “Why?”
